The making of the curtains
When they were making the curtains for the inner covering of the tabernacle they did not know which ones would be seen so they put the same care and workmanship into them all. So it should be with us today. When we do anything for God it does not matter whither anyone will see it or not. It is for God and he sees it so we should always give our best effort.

Curtains of one measure
Ex 26:2
"and every one of the curtains shall be of one measure"
The ten curtains were coupled together to form the whole covering for the tabernacle. Only the ones on the roof would be seen from the inside of the tabernacle when you looked up. Whither you could see them or not they all measured the same. In this we can see the perfection of Christ.
They were made with blue, purple and scarlet: with cherubims. Here we see Christ in the heavens, and as king and as the sacrifice and it is glorious.
Skillful workmen were given the task of making them, what a responsibility.

Fine Twined Linen
Exo 26:1 Moreover thou shalt make the tabernacle with ten curtains; of fine twined linen, and blue, and purple, and scarlet, with cherubim the work of the skilful workman shalt thou make them.
If we were designing the wall of the tabernacle we would use canvas or some other rugged material, but this was God's design and he wanted the best quality made by skilful workmen.
If we are going to be doing anything for God He wants us to do our best and use the skills and gifts that He has given us.

The Lord's Offering
Exo 35:21-24 And they came, every one whose heart stirred him up, and every one whom his spirit made willing, and brought Jehovah's offering, for the work of the tent of meeting, and for all the service thereof, and for the holy garments. And they came, both men and women, as many as were willing-hearted, and brought brooches, and ear-rings, and signet-rings, and armlets, all jewels of gold; even every man that offered an offering of gold unto Jehovah. And every man, with whom was found blue, and purple, and scarlet, and fine linen, and goats' hair, and rams' skins dyed red, and sealskins, brought them. Every one that did offer an offering of silver and brass brought Jehovah's offering; and every man, with whom was found acacia wood for any work of the service, brought it.
When Moses told the people that they were going to build the Tabernacle it was a free will offering. It wasn't God who stirred up their hearts or The Spirit of God who made them willing. It was a desire they had from within themselves to bring an offering to God. It says they came both men and women. When you come to God's House today do you come because your heart is stirred up to worship God? What do you bring? God does not need your money, He says "The cattle on a thousand hills are mine"Psa. 50:10. God wants what is on your heart. Psa. 50:14
The people didn't all bring the same thing. Perhaps what is on your heart is thoughts of thanksgiving for Christ as your Saviour, another person has an appreciation of Christ as Lord, another person has been meditating on Christ as the Good Shepherd and another has been meditating on Christ as our Great High Priest. All this worship of our hearts is acceptable to God.
v24 says "and every man, with whom was found shittim wood for any work of the service, brought it."
You don't have to wait till you find something really great or until you are a mature Christian with a deep knowledge of the scriptures to bring the worship of your heart to God. To you it might only look like a piece of wood but God looks on the heart.

Cain's offering
Gen 4 v3-7
Cain brought an offering of the fruit of the ground and Able brought an offering of the firstlings of his flock.
It says God was pleased with Ables offering but not with Cain's offering. Have you ever wondered why God was pleased with one and not the other. Well the first thing you might think is that God had killed an animal when Adam and Eve sinned therefore God wanted animal sacrifices. Well yes we know that from other scriptures that without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness for sin, but it does not say that Cain and Able were offering a sin offering.
It says about Able that he brought the firstlings of his flock. God is interested in the attitude of the giver. Able brought what he got first and Cain just brought some of the fruit of the ground.
In verse 7 God speaks to Cain and says if you do well you will be accepted. Is this still not true today?
2Ti 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
